Each year on campus, I witness periodic graduation seasons – March, July and December. Whenever such occasions come, the campus is full of faces brimming with happiness, joy, excitement, achievement, ambitions and many more, faces that manifest a future full of possibilities and wonders. Upon seeing students in graduation gowns proudly taking photos, I cannot help admiring their vigor and passion.
This year’s March graduation was special for me: It was the first time there were MA linguistics students who were once taught and/or supervised by me and now finally earned their degrees! While standing among them to experience their great moments, I felt all the efforts had been paid off. That I was lucky to be involved in part of someone’s journey of academic career, however short it may be, gives me a profound sense of fulfillment.
To all MA graduates of SFL: Bon Voyage!
